Voice Recognition / Synthesis - Help - Interactive System Settings


To enable Voice Recognition / Synthesis on your computer:

If you are using windows 7, voice recognition and synthesis is probably already on your computer.
However, you should click on Speech in the control panel, and go through the voice training.

Otherwise, use the links below to Download (available Free from Microsoft) and install:
  • Microsoft 5.1 Speech SDK may be downloaded from:
                http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx
  • Microsoft agent character ( Peedy ) may be downloaded from:
                http://www.microsoft.com/msagent/downloads/user.aspx#character
  • A suitable Text-to-Speech engine for your local language may be downloaded from:
                http://www.microsoft.com/msagent/downloads/user.aspx#tts
  • The Microsoft SAPI 4.0 runtime (speech interface) may be downloaded from:
                http://www.microsoft.com/msagent/downloads/user.aspx#sapi




    After installing the above software ...
    Return to this page, the Peedy character will be visible and active.
    The Toolbar Icon like one of those shown above should also be visible at the top / right corner of your screen.
    Voice Recognition / Synthesis will be available and active.
